Explore the secrets of the ancient Hawai’ian knowledge. You will be taken on the journey with Mahni Dugan, a writer, international presenter and counsellor, who has been working in the field of human potential and experience for many years. She is particularly interested in exploration of metaphysics and believes that the ancient Hawai’ian ways allow us to connect with the nature of being. She creates the space in a context of love, respect, healing and joy and shares her knowledge with permission from Loea Lanakilakekiahiali’I (Uncle George Naope).
Hawai’ian legend says there would be a time when the knowledge would be hidden, and a time when it would need to be shared with the people of the world, to support us in consciously creating peace and harmony. That time is now.
· You will explore the practice of making wilful change in your life and in your environment. The most important kind of knowledge is knowledge of oneself. This is a journey of personal development that will give you the ability to liberate yourself and learn to get the most from your world.

· Explore your life path potential with guidance and purpose. A personal life path reading will be provided (if you so desire) that will point you in the direction of your utmost potential to be explored and actualised.

· Learn about cause and effect in your life and how to create your own future. In many new age workshops and seminars we are told that we create our own destiny in both our positive and negative interactions with people and circumstances in our environment. In a metaphysical sense this is a correct statement but you will find out that this is not a new concept but a way in which the shaman understood his world thousands of years ago. Rather than being a cliché’, you will understand this concept better when learning about the Hawi’ian ways.
· Be aware of your thoughts (positive/negative) and their effect on you and your environment. Reality is in the mind of the observer. Each person lives in and creates a unique universe that is never 100% like someone else’s.
· Learn how to flow the elements (Fire - AHI, Earth - HONAU, Air - EA, Water - WAI) and bring about balance and harmony. Each of the elements has a positive and negative polarity. Learn how to work with the elements and create your desired environment.

· Reconnect and expand your horizon. Each phenomenon in existence is linked directly or indirectly to every other one – past, present and future.
The ancient Hawi’ians believed that physical and mental disease were related to the absence of MANA in the body. This may be caused by internal conflicts, complexes, fixations or simply negative thoughts. MANA is the life force energy that is often referred to as Chi, Prana, Shakti in other traditions. You will learn more about the way to restore yourself to a healthy state during our visit. Learn how to breathe and to accumulate and focus MANA, how to be in the state of supreme life breath and arouse the wisdom held in your body by learning the ancient HULA dance.
The Hawi’ians also believe that it is essential that we make things right if something wrong has occurred in our lives, this is known as HO’OPONOPONO. There is a familiar saying “People are only doing the best they can with the resources they have available” which forms the basis of the code of forgiveness. You will find out how to apply this in your own life.
Words and symbols contain power that can be utilised if you understand the nature of the sounds –experience the sounds by CHANTING. The words change the neurology so the chanter can experience the essence of the sound or the energy at a very deep level. You will learn about the Hawai’ian language through the words and concepts experienced in doing the ancient chants.

Interesting Information about the Journey

Sacred sites

In ancient Hawaii there were "Places of Refuge" for people who had broken a
law - being put to death was the punishment for the breaking nearly any law in ancient Hawaii. These places of refuge were also HEIAUS where priests performed cleansing ceremonies, lasting three days that would permit the person to return to society without
harm.

If a person was able to get inside the HEIAU without being captured by surrounding troops who guarded the area to prevent these people from getting in easily. Sometimes they needed to swim in the shark infested waters to get into the HEIAU.

The photo shows an example of spirit images surrounding a sacred enclosure with a storage hut known as Pu'uhonua place of refuge in south Kona on the Big Island.  A day to experience the energy and observe the large sea turtles playing in the bay.

The Petroglyphs

The Hawiian petroglyphs are pictures and symbols cut into the rock surface by the people of prehistoric times. The word petroglyph is derived from the

Greek roots (Petros- meaning stone and Glyphe meaning carving). The oldest of these found are the engravings of glacial age animals caved in caves over 10,000 years ago.

The stone carvings are scattered around Hawaii and constitute the only prehistoric art now owned by private collections or enclosed in museums. You will be able to experience these for yourself. What do they mean?

According to Hawiian legend the petroglyphs were made by distant priests and had meaning to the initiated. Many of the designs depict animals, birds, concentric circles and sometimes unfinished forms. It is possible that they will unleash some understanding with in your being of times and knowledge from long ago.

Kaupulehu Cultural Center

Explore Hawaiian values, practices, heritage and traditions are available in this amazing location that sits amid a resort oasis known as Hualalai (A Five Star Four Seasons Resort). Be dazzled by our tour guide for this amazing experience and visit, Earl Kamakaonaona Regidor, a native Hawiian and Historian will greet us at the Interpretive Center. The ancients called this region Kekaha Wai'ole, the waterless Kekaha of the Kona district, where water (WAI) is valued as wealth (WAIWAI).

This rich area is full of natural resources including shoreline pools, offshore fishing grounds, petroglyphs, historic trails, rare upland/wetland birds, fish, turtles, coral and freshwater springs that bubble into the lava and ocean. Along the beach front we will experience some interesting HEIAUS for those lucky enough to find them.

We will lunch poolside and spend about a half a day at this exciting location. For those of you who love golf you will find a Jack Nicholas 18 hole signature course available. Even if you don't love golf you will appreciate the green topography and landscaping in this fabulous location.

Mauna Loa the Home of Pele

The Hawaiian name "Mauna Loa" meaning "Long Mountain" is appropriate for the part of Mauna Loa that extends for about 120 km from the southern tip of the island to the summit caldera and then east-northeast to the coastline near Hilo

Hawaii's legendary goddess of fire, Pele will greet us as we view steam vents, sulfur banks, lava and a'a lava, hike through lava tubes and across the floor of Kilauea Iki crater. If Pele cooperates, we'll view molten lava as it seeps into the sea.

Rising gradually to more than 4 km above sea level, Mauna Loa is the largest volcano on our planet. Its long submarine flanks descend to the sea floor an additional 5 km, and the sea floor in turn is depressed by Mauna Loa's great mass another 8 km. This makes the volcano's summit about 17 km (56,000 ft) above its base! The enormous volcano covers half of the Island of Hawai`i and by itself amounts to about 85 percent of all the other Hawaiian Islands combined.

Mauna Loa is among Earth's most active volcanoes, having erupted 33 times since its first well-documented historical eruption in 1843. Its most recent eruption was in 1984. Mauna Loa is certain to erupt again. (Current activity is not a worry - reported as at January 22, 2002. Mauna Loa Volcano continues its quiet, showing no signs of the restless activity expected before the next eruption. Seismic monitoring indicates no unusual or significant earthquake activity beneath or within the volcano. Continuous tiltmeter data, dilatometer data, and nearly continuous GPS data show no significant deformation of the summit caldera (Moku`aweoweo), upper rift zones, and outer flank)
